Fanmaps is a tool that enables travel bloggers and publishers to create engaging local maps for their articles easily. A contextual map embedded within an article adds extra value for the visitors, and creates engagement with the story. With Fanmaps you can create highly interactive and beautiful maps, which until now was possible only through using APIs, and required programming and design skills. Great features like multi-author editing, collaboration, and rich media will become available in Fanmaps very soon! More goodness, like multi-author editing, collaboration, and rich media will become available in Fanmaps very soon.
Right now Fanmaps Beta is free to use for anyone! Once graduated from Beta, we will release premium features and extended customisation options. These new features will be available through our premium subscriptions. And yes, we will continue to offer a free subscription packed with all essentials features.
Currently it's Google Maps API. However, we are considering switching to open source maps. This should allow us to keep the pricing of our subscriptions low, while still offering great design and customisation options.
We have build Fanmaps as a travel platform, meaning that it can work for a number of things. In addition to interactive maps for articles, you can create interest based web/mobile local guides, destination portals, travel portals for events, web/mobile concierge, collaborative guides, and personal recommendations for friends visiting your city!
Our present goal and focus is to build the best mapping tool for travel blogs and websites. And our long term goal is to build an amazing community of bloggers and travellers inspired by their passions and interests, help them to engage with new destinations, cultures, and like-minded locals. Watch this into to find out more about our vision!
